My name is Zach Adams and I am excited to serve as a SOAR leader this summer. I am currently a first-year student from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and am pursuing a double major in both Architecture and Design with a fashion concentration within the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. I had an amazing time at SOAR during the summer before arriving at WashU and made amazing friends and am looking forward to helping give incoming students the same experience I had. I can’t wait to meet the Class of 2022 and help make the transition into college a little less crazy and help make them feel at home!
My name is Mauricio Fossas, but people just call me Mau. I am from Mexico City and a part of the Class of 2021. I am currently undecided but considering majoring in Computer Science. I am also planning on studying a pre-health track and exploring the differences between pre-med and pre-nursing. I am most excited about being a SOAR leader to be able to help students feel comfortable as quickly as I did, to call WashU a home, and look forward to their first year.
My name is Kris Fragata and I am a student in the class of 2021 from Baltimore, Maryland. I am double majoring in Studio Art in the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts and Entrepreneurship in the Olin Business School with a minor in Film. Aside from studio and film work, I’ve been involved in the Triathlon Club and Girls Who Code on campus. I am pumped to be a SOAR leader this summer and I want to help incoming first-year students make the transition into their first year at WashU a little easier.
My name is Lydia Ho. I am a member of the Class of 2021 and from Hong Kong. I am majoring in Computer Science in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. In addition to being a SOAR leader, I am a tour guide for the Engineering school and a part of Club Gymnastics and Asian Christian Fellowship. I will also be a WUSA next year. I chose to be a SOAR leader to help the new students start WashU on a good note and I am excited to share what I have learned thus far on making the most of one’s college experience. My name is Sydney Hornitschek and I am a sophomore from Belleville, Illinois. While I am currently undecided in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, I’m leaning toward pursuing a major in Chemical Engineering. I will also be a Pre-Orientation leader for the Burning Kumquat and as a military child, I’m extremely familiar with starting someplace new. As much as I can’t wait to share all the best places to nap and study, I’m most excited to simply welcome the Class of 2022 to this wonderful school, helping to prepare its members for the adventure that lies ahead!
My name is Juliet Kamau and I am a current first-year from Birmingham, Alabama, in the School of Arts & Sciences. I intend to double major in Political Science and Leadership and Strategic Management with a French minor. I’m thrilled to form new connections with upcoming first years and foster a supportive and welcoming community. In addition to being a SOAR Leader and WUSA, I am also in the APO volunteer fraternity, PGN professional business fraternity, and a member of the WashU Climbing Team. My name is Madhulika Kastury and I am from Mason, Ohio. I am a first-year student in the School of Arts & Sciences. I plan to double major in Applied Mathematics and International Area Studies and minor in Spanish. As a SOAR Leader, I look forward to connecting with new students on a personal level and maintaining a mentoring relationship with them throughout the academic year. My name is LeiLani Lee, and I am a part of the WashU’s Class of 2021. I am double majoring in Biology and Psychology and I am also on the pre-med track. Aside from being a SOAR Leader, I work at the Recreation Center as a facility host, am a member of the DENEB Stars, and serve on the Publicity Committee for the Association of Black Students. I am excited to fulfill the role of SOAR Leader because this program gave me an amazing and memorable start to my time at WashU, and I can’t wait to help the first-year students transition into this new stage of their lives.

My name is Daelen Morris, I’m a sophomore from Peoria, Illinois. I’m majoring in African and African American Studies with a minor in Writing and am also on the pre-law track. I’m excited to be a SOAR leader because I want the incoming first-year students to have the same incredible SOAR experience that I had. Attending SOAR really helped me become familiar with WashU and I met some of my best friends while in attendance. The SOAR leaders were incredibly friendly and helpful in pushing us to meet the people who would become our classmates, and I can’t wait to facilitate these bonds over the summer. I’m looking forward to seeing the incoming students make friends, form connections, and realize how amazing an institution WashU is.
My name is Elena Quinones and I am a first-year from Louisville, KY. I am double majoring in International and Area Studies and Latin American Studies in the School of Arts and Sciences. The SOAR program really helped me with the college transition, so I’m so excited to be back this summer as a leader. I’m really looking forward to helping other students transition to WashU and to kick off their first-year experience in a positive way.

My name is Alitzel Yepiz, a first-year student from Chicago, IL. Currently, I am undecided the school of Engineering and Applied Sciences, but I am considering majoring in Mechanical Engineering, with potential minors in Computer Science and Spanish.
