Planning Your Visit: Coordinating with Your Student
Planning around Fall Break
Fall Break occurs two weekends prior to Parent & Family Weekend 2018. Students will have Fall Break from Saturday, October 13 through Tuesday, October 16, 2018. If you are planning to visit for Parent & Family Weekend (October 26-28, 2018), please encourage your student to stay in St. Louis and take advantage of the many opportunities available to them. Student organizations, the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, and other campus entities will offer opportunities to explore St. Louis, develop leadership skills, and get to know other students during this time.
Planning around class sessions and coursework
Classes are still in session on Friday. Many classes will be available for you to observe, however some classes may have scheduled exams, presentations, or projects, and your student will need to attend their classes that day.
We suggest you check with your student ahead of time regarding their homework and study schedule for the weekend. It is possible your student may have exams, presentations, or projects the week following Parent & Family Weekend as well.
Unfortunately, the First Year Center is unable to guarantee the availability of your student based on his or her own academic and co-curricular schedule. Please discuss your student’s plans with him or her prior to planning your weekend.
