First 40 is a series of fun events and activities on
campus and in the community available to new students during their
first 40 days at Washington University in St. Louis.
At First 40 events, new students:
- Connect with fellow students formally and informally
- Participate in social or cultural activities beyond their classrooms and floors
- Develop an awareness of opportunities for engagement on campus and in the St. Louis community
2016 Signature Events
DAY 1 - Monday, August 29
8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Day 1 welcomes you to your first day of classes at Washington University in St. Louis! Stop by the underpass for a quick snack and free school supplies on the first day of classes. You can even have a picture taken to send home - priceless!
First Friday/Activities Fair - Friday, September 2
Noon - 9:00 PM
Location: Various Locations
Celebrate the end of your first week of classes with a series of fun and engaging events.
Stop by the Activities Fair to learn about the incredible amount of opportunities available at WashU.

First Floor Dinner and Night at the Museum - Friday, September 9
7 PM - 11 PM
Location: Missouri History Museum
Spend a Night at the Museum with your classmates exploring the Missouri History Museum for a night of fun-filled activities. Play games, watch student dance performances, listen to the music of WUSTL a cappella, and laugh to the comedic stylings of improv groups. Eat dinner with your floor before heading to the Museum at First Floor Dinner.
Symphony on the South 40 - Monday, September 19
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Location: outside Bear’s Den
Hear the sweet sounds of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra right outside your door on the South 40! Student performances open this evening of incredible music.
