Summer Academic Programs

The following is a list of summer academic programs for incoming freshmen and transfer students.  Some programs offer the opportunity to take a summer course as well as opportunities to visit campus, meet with an academic advisor and register for classes.
Incoming Freshmen

ArtSci Summer Weekends
The College of Arts & Sciences highly recommends that entering freshmen attend an ArtSci Summer Weekend. This program introduces students to Washington University in St. Louis and to academic life in Arts & Sciences, and prepares them for the fall semester. During the weekend students register for classes and receive a snapshot of the academic opportunities and resources available to them as Washington University students.

Biology Summer Scholars
The Summer Scholars Program in Biology and Biomedical Research, offers an extraordinary opportunity for 20 students to get a head start on scientific research and their college careers by spending seven weeks on campus learning research skills and working in a research lab.

Engineering Summer Weekend
Engineering Summer Weekend (ESW) is a two and a half day summer program hosted by the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the First Year Center.

At ESW you will meet with an academic advisor, hear from your major department, and get an early start on registration for your first semester at WUSTL. In addition, you will meet fellow freshmen engineers, interact with upper-class engineering students, and speak with faculty and staff in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. You will also have an opportunity to explore campus and fun locations nearby.

Olin Business School Summer Weekend
Olin Business School Summer Weekend is a two and a half day summer program hosted by the Olin Business School and the First Year Center.

At Olin Business School Summer Weekend you will meet with an academic advisor adn get an early start on registration for your first semester at WUSTL. In addition, you will meet fellow Olin students and have an opportunity to explore campus and fun St. Louis attractions.
Explore Program for International Students
International Students should plan to arrive for the Explore Program sponsored by the Office for International Students and Scholars.  This program provides opportunities for new International Student to meet one another and discover the resources offered by OISS.  The Explore Program also includes participation in a Fall Pre-Orientation Program.

Freshman Summer Academic Program
The Freshman Summer Academic Program (FSAP) gives first-year students admitted to Washington University an introduction to the undergraduate academic and social life at the university. The intensive five-week academic program provides students the opportunity to earn six college credits, make friends, become familiar with the campus and surrounding neighborhoods, and register early for fall courses before other freshmen.

Transfer Students

TRANSFERmations: Summer Registration Weekend
As you make your summer plans, consider attending TRANSFERmations on Thursday, June 27 - Saturday, June 29, 2013. This two and a half day summer program is hosted by the First Year Center and all five undergraduate academic divisions. At TRANSFERmations you will meet with your academic advisor, register for classes, discuss transfer credits, and have the opportunity to declare your major. In addition, you will meet fellow transfer students, get tips from current transfer students, learn about housing options, get your student ID and explore the city of St. Louis.
