Register for Classes

Incoming students often have questions regarding registration. Here is the breakdown of when and how students in the various academic schools register for classes. Please note, each academic division uses a different process through which students register.
Freshmen
Course Registration
Incoming freshmen often have questions regarding registration. Here is the breakdown of when and how students in the various academic schools register for classes.

College of Architecture
Students in the College of Architecture should expect to register via mail/email during the summer. Over the summer, an advisor will contact you with more information. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Associate Dean Georgia Binnington or the Registrar for Architecture, Bruce Carvell.

College of Art
Students in the College of Art should expect to register via mail/email during the summer. Over the summer, an advisor will contact you with more information. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Associate Dean Georgia Binnington or Assistant Dean & Registrar Cris Baldwin.

College of Arts & Sciences
Entering freshmen have the opportunity to register early for their fall classes while attending one of the optional summer programs, which include the Freshman Summer Academic Program, the Biology Scholars Program or one of four ArtSci Summer Weekends. Students unable to attend one of the summer programs will register during Bear Beginnings: New Student Orientation in August. Questions regarding registration for classes should be directed to Sarah Littlechild.

Olin Business School
Students in the Olin Business School should expect to be contacted by their advisor and register for classes over the summer. Any additional questions about the registration process should be directed to Lanna Skadden or your four year advisor, whose information you will receive over the summer.
Olin Summer Weekend, held Thursday, June 20 - Saturday, June 22, is an opportunity for students in the Olin Business School to register for classes and meet faculty, students, and staff with an interest in this area.

School of Engineering & Applied Science
School of Engineering & Applied Science students will receive registration information via email in mid-July. This email will give students their personal registration date. Students will be allowed to begin the registration process at home and register for courses online. Students are advised to contact Assistant Deans RonLaue or Melanie Osborn with questions about courses, registration or any other information regarding the School of Engineering & Applied Science.

Engineering Summer Weekend, held Thursday, July 11 - Saturday, July 13, is an oppportunity for students in the School of Engineering and Applied Science to register for classes, learn more about the different fields of Engineering, and meet faculty, students, and staff with an interest in this area.


Transfer Students
We encourage all new fall transfer students to attend TRANSFERmations. This weekend will allow you to meet with an academic advisor, register for classes*, find out about housing and meet other students who are transferring to Washington University in the fall.
